Not too long ago, we were asked if we would be the “official” photographer’s of a “faux” wedding in Richmond, Melbourne. It was an event put together by our friend, Arnie, who is in training to become the best celebrant that he can be. In order to do this, he had to submit a sample of his work for assessment. Arnie went way above and beyond what he had to do and came up with an amazing production for us to photograph.
The bride and groom were no strangers to us. Brodie and James have previously modelled for us in another styled shoot and jumped in again to play the happy couple. The cutest thing was that James (the groom) had never been to a wedding before this one! Guess he’s now well prepared for his real one when it comes around!
A real wedding in Richmond – chic, art deco vibe!
This faux wedding could have passed up as being the real thing. The bride was a vision in a stunning Craig Braybrook Couture wedding gown and hair and makeup artists perfected her look. The groom looked very smart in his (faux) grey suit, which was originally blue but we thought it looked better in grey – the wonderful things you can do with photo editing! The wedding came complete with a bridesmaid, groomsman, mother and father of both bride and groom and a roomful of guests who came to watch their friends in action. The Grand Hotel Richmond was a perfect venue for an intimate, boutique wedding such as this one.
We started off with wedding preparations at the bride’s dad’s residence where even the pet dog, Lulu, was dressed in a tutu for the occasion! With a wedding dress designer for a (faux) father, Chloe (aka Brodie) was destined to wear the most stunning gown the beautiful bride had laid eyes on. It was a hard choice with so many dreamy couture gowns to select from. The designer’s showroom was a perfect dressing room for the lovely bride.
Wedding Photography at the Grand Hotel in Richmond
The Grand Hotel Richmond is a highly rated venue for dining and wining. The wedding was held upstairs in their Como room, equipped with a bar so that you don’t have to travel downstairs for drinks. The rooms were light-filled with a chic, art deco vibe. The large arches of the exterior was a lovely backdrop for some portraits of the bride and groom. Unfortunately, we had to dash off right after the wedding so we weren’t able to stay and enjoy some of their lovely food!
Arnie did such a fabulous job as a celebrant at his first wedding, in front of a room full of great friends. We’re sure that he will make a great career out of his chosen field. Thanks for putting such a lovely event together. We loved photographing this “wedding”!
Enjoy the photos.
